Our house is finished and ready! Yeah! We are ready for a visit from the Big Man . . .Santa!

Yes, that is the tree in the back of our kitchen. All of our living room is in the kitchen because the upstairs apartment had a flood on Friday night that came down into ours!

The carpet people came and sprayed on Saturday and are suppose to be coming today to clean the carpets. It is now 4:30 and I have been waiting ALL DAY for them and they are still not here!
We then have to wait for it to dry before putting our living room back together again.

Edit: The floor boards were not dry enough for them to fix everything! They are coming back tomorrow. I hope our floor will be fixed and dry before Christmas!

I can't believe it is December

How can it already be Dec. 5th? The time has been going by so fast lately. I have been busy with work. JD has been busy looking for a job and organizing the apartment.
We are looking forward to the holiday season and seeing family and friends that we have not seen for awhile. I love the holidays because of that.
We had a nice Thanksgiving at my brothers in Pleasant Grove. It was so nice to be with family! We then went and spent the night at our friends, Jeff and Tiscia, in Springeville. Tiscia and I braved the crowds and went shopping on Black Friday. I got some good deals and had fun for my first time shopping the Black Friday sales.
Nothing else has really been going on besides school for Miah, work for me, and trying to get things settled.

Boonanza / Halloween Preview

Tonight we went to the Boonanza. So the kids got to wear their Halloween costumes early this year. We have our little Prince and our Princess Belle.

Sorry that I have not posted much lately. I've been too busy and if I've had a moment there has always been something else I needed to do. Today, there are still things that needed to be done, but I'm updating the blog instead.

We've been able to fit in some fun along with all the work. Over the weekend we went down for Nate's Birthday to Springville. It was fun to get to spend time with our friends. I wish we lived closer!


Here is Isaac at the park on Saturday. He was so proud that he climbed that high and was taller than me. On Sunday we left Springville and went to spend the day with my Mom. We went to Gardner Village to look at their cute decorations. It was Sunday so all the stores we closed.

When we saw the witch in the picture riding the bike Miah asked, "Mom, I thought witches rode brooms."

We then went to the Mayan to take the kids since they had never been there. They liked it, but my mom and I remembered why one trip every 3 to 4 years is fine. I did not really like the food I got. It was $7.50 for a kid's meal. Maybe I'm just getting cheap in my old age, but come on that is pricey.

We are also proud my nephew Cole got baptized. I am so happy to be in Utah so that I don't have to miss these family events anymore! We are looking to spending some time at my sisters in a couple weeks when my niece gets baptized.

Most of all, we are anticipating JD's arrival in 7 days. This time next week he will be in the plane flying to us!

Things have been busy around here. I really don't know how single parents do this! I also can't believe we have been living apart almost three months. WHAT WERE WE THINKING?
Seriously though we are counting down the days until JD gets here (36 days). We can't wait for him to get here. The Donegans just got a camera for their computer so now we can use skype and see JD while talking to him. I think that has been good for the kids.
We are just up to much of the same school, work, driving, and more work.

42 days until JD joins us in Utah! We just decided it was time for him to join us, no job or anything yet. By then we will have been apart for 4 months and that is just too long!

I'm so excited to be going to the scrapbook expo for the first time in 4 years! My SIL Heather and SIL Jenni are going with me! Kids are spending the night at their grandparents and I'm childless for the night! Woo Hoo!

Isaac on Miah's first day. I had to pick him up to get him to leave. He started kicking and Screaming "Miah, My Miah". He cried until I started him a movie, then he was fine.

Test Day

Today was Miah's kindergarten test assessment. She did very well. The teacher was impressed. She only forgot two letters, j and y, which she knows both! I think it was just nerves. She did great with all her other things. We also turned in our first book order. I love book orders! It will be fun to share this with Miah. She luckily has inherited mine and JD's love of books. You can never have too many books!

We also had the car tested today for emmisions and inspection. It is always such a relief when it passes. We did have to get a new windshield, but we have really needed one for over a year now.

I'm going to go down to WJ tomorrow and spend the night at my parents. My MIL is taking me to dinner and a show for my birthday. Then my parents are making me dinner on my birthday. It will be nice to be around family for my birthday for the first time in 4 years. I just wish JD was here to celebrate too! I can't believe i'm in my 30's now. That sounded so old not to long ago.

Today was Miah's kindergarten orientation. It went well and her teacher seems nice. She will have an assessment test on Friday and starts regular kindergarten on the 31st.

Miah also had her first dentist appointment for her cavities to be fixed. She did very well, we were proud of her. The dentist told her that she did great and could come back anytime. Good thing since we will be back next Monday to do the other side of her mouth.

We just dropped JD off at the airport. Miah and I cried most of the way back. This is really hard. Hopefully something will work out soon and he can move to be with us all the time! We miss him!

Sorry that I have not been updating as much as I usually do. Things are BUSY! The kids and I have been busy working, trying to organize and unpack at our apartment, and fit in a little play time.

We did go to the Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving Point with our friends. The kids enjoyed it. Here are a few pictures. I did not get one of the two of them because Miah loved following Jeff around as he would tell her and Nathan all about the dinosaurs.

We have a busy week and are looking forward to a visit from JD on Thursday. He will be flying out that night. The owner of the apartment complex will be here on Friday, so this week is going to be so busy getting ready for that. Then on Saturday I'm throwing a bbq for all the residents. Monday is Miah's dental appointment to get her cavities fixed in half her mouth. It will also be orientation for Kindergarten. JD will leave us on Monday night, unfortunately. Hopefully with all that going on he will have a little time to look for a job in person and spend lots of time with us. We have really missed him and hope that soon he can move home with us!

At last . . . I'm connected

I FINALLY GOT THE INTERNET TODAY! Yeah!

On Saturday we moved into the new apartment in Clearfield. Thanks Dad and Travis for your help! We spent our first night there. It was great to have a place of our own, with one exception and that is that JD is still not with us. We miss him. It feels weird to have a place for us when he is not here. I realize how much I rely on him for many things, even putting a stupid fan together!

We spent the next several days trying to move more things up here.

Wednesday I got Miah registered for school. She will have afternoon kindergarten, which I was really hoping to get her in morning kindergarten so it would make things easier to get to SL for work. Oh well. Maybe they can change it if someone moves or something. Miah is very excited and asks everyday how many more days until school. The first day is the 24th and it will be just a 1 hour orientation to meet the teacher and sign up a time for her assessment tests. The first regular day of school for her will be August 31st. I still can't believe she will be in school.

Yesterday, I had a root canal. Unfortunately I still have one to go. We also have some dental appointments for Miah to get her cavities filled. Yikes she doesn't seem to have great teeth, but at least she was good at the dentist.

Also, yesterday Tiscia and her kids came up and stayed the night. It was nice to have some company! Thanks for your help Tiscia!

So now, I'm still working on getting everything put away, getting a hang of being the apartment manager, trying to get in some hours with my sisters work and trying to stay sane through all there transitions. Now that I have the internet again I will be able to look even harder for a job for JD. I hope something works out soon!

The Long Road

Here are some of the pictures from the drive from New York to Utah. I was grateful that the kids did so well. It is amazing how much a little treat can get the kids in a good mood.

Things that are going on . . .

The kids and I just got back from the Syme cabin yesterday. We went up on Thursday. It was nice to get away and spend time with the Symes'. The kids enjoyed being outside, playing in the dirt, riding the 4 wheelers, the junk food, and all the things associated with camping.

I should know more tomorrow about when I am moving to Clearfield. A few complications have come up, but the company is working to resolve them. The place was nice. It is a two bedroom town home. It also has one and a half bath, which will be nice! There is even a possibilty of moving into a three bedroom, which would be wonderful! I'm looking forward to getting things settled since Miah should be starting school in less than a month.

JD is still in NY working for the time being. We are searching for a job for him here and hope that something works out soon! Otherwise he will prbably stay in NY for a couple of months until we can get a few things paid off and perhaps live on what I make for a few months. We are hoping it is not too long and we can find him a job here ASAP! I don't know how single parents do it. It is really hard to work and take care of the kids, even with the help of our families. We also wanted to take advantage of health, dental, and vision insurance one last time before JD quits. We don't know when we would have these things again.

So not much has changed. There are still a lot of unknowns right now, but hopefully we will be figuring things out very soon and be together again.

crazy busy

I have been crazy busy, so sorry for not updating much! I got the apartment manager job and will be moving to Clearfield. The date is suppose to be Aug first, but they want me to sooner if possible. I'm going up tomorrow to see the place. It is suppose to be nice. It is right next to the elementary school and a park, so those will be nice! It will just be weird living by myself with the kids.
We haven't been up to much just working and seeing those that we can. We hope to see many more when things settle down a little!

We made it back to Utah!

So we made it safely back to Utah. We arrived around 4 in the afternoon yesterday. The kids were great travelers. They did great for spending two whole days in the car. I will post some pictures, but I forgot my camera at the Syme's house.

I'm suppose to get a call tomorrow from the manager of the apartment place. I've got to set up an interview with her. They are thinking of putting us in an apartment in Sugarhouse and it sounds AWESOME. It is bigger than any place we have lived, AC, walk in closets, pool, clubhouse, internet, covered parking, and a dishwasher. I just may never want to leave! I'll keep you posted, but please keep your finger crossed that it works out!

one more full day in NY

Since this day has started, we only have one more full day in NY. Sunday night Miah said she wasn't feeling well, so we put the kids to bed early. She woke up with a fever. So much for meeting our friends at the park for a final farewell. She laid in my bed and watched cartoons most of the morning and said she felt better. We dropped by two families to say goodbye. I'm sad to say goodbye to some of the families that we have come to love in NY, but I know somehow we will see them again.

JD's Dad arrives in the morning. We are hoping to go to the Bronx Zoo, weather and fever permitting. Then we are off on Thursday morning.

I don't know if I will be able to post again before we leave. I hope and pray that everything goes smoothly on our drive across country!

Last weekend in NY

So it is the kids and my last weekend in NY. I still don't think it has really sunk in yet. We had anticipated doing a few fun last minute things like the fireworks at coney island and the beach, but again it is going to RAIN. GRRR, this rain has spoiled many plans this month. Oh well.

We did make it to the beach with our friends on Thursday. It was good to see them. I got really sunburned on my back though, so I have been uncomfortable since. I'm just glad the kids didn't get burned other than Miah got a little on her face. I forgot our camera, so no pictures.

I'm B...O...R...E...D

So JD still isn't on his way home yet and it is 11:45 pm. He has worked 17 hours so far. He worked a little more than 14 hours yesterday. YUCKY for him to be away from home so much, especially when it is our last week in NY. BUT the paycheck will be nice and help us be able to move.

It has been rainy still. On the weather tonight they said there has only been one 24 hour period that was clear the whole month! That is pretty crazy.

Still waiting to hear about anything. I've applied to 5 more jobs for JD in Utah the last few days. Hopefully something will pan out and he can QUIT soon! We are still waiting to hear from the apartment job, UVU, a possible full-time job for me, the warehouse job for JD that the guy keeps calling him about and many more applications that we have put out. I'm really TIRED of WAITING for everything right now. It will be good to get something accomplished when we get to Utah.

Rain, Rain, GO AWAY!!

I was just watching the weather and they said this is the 6th wettest June ever. Out of the last 21 days, 17 of them have had rain. Guess what the forecast is for? RAIN for everyday this week! Yuck. Makes it hard for us to do the few things we wanted to do these last few days in NY! We had hoped to have some friends over to go to the beach and wanted to go to Coney Island for fireworks on Friday. Neither of those will be very fun in the rain.

The other thing that makes the rain harder to accept is that JD has inventory this week, so he is going to be BUSY! He doesn't know that he will be home until late everyday night. He thinks that he may even have to work like 16 hours on Wednesday. It doesn't make it possible for us to borrow the car so we can go do anything.
